GYMKHANA SEASON IS UPON US! Yippee!!! The rain has cleared up, sun is shining and our horses are ready to hit the trail and run barrels. I love this time of year when we can spend lots of time riding our horses and have a few hours of daylight after work. There are lots of gymkhanas, horse shows and trail rides coming up right here in Del Norte this season! The Fairgrounds is sponsoring a Gymkhana Playday on June 15th. Region 13 Gymkhana riders will be here at our Fairgrounds for a 2 day Gymkhana on June 21-22. That will be a great weekend with our out-of-town Gymkhana Riding Buddies camping out at the Fairgrounds. Saturday, June 28th will be the next gymkhana sponsored by the Foursquare Church Equestrian Group at the Fairgrounds. Daily awards to third in each age group. This is the 2nd of 5 shows; you must ride all rated events and four shows with the same horse/rider combo to qualify for year end awards. **Boots are mandatory.Helmets are required for ages 15 and under. Judges decision is final** Get your motors running!!! The Northwest Trailriders are hosting a Cowboy Challenge on June 29th at Horse Camp. (More info will be coming.) It's great to see lots of kids out there riding and competing in the Gymkhanas. They've got a new teacher named Steve and he has taught them that they need to have control of the horse and that speed isn't everything. They've improved so much from last year. We've got a great season coming up and I love being part of it. If any of you out there haven't tried it yet, you should know how good it is to spend the whole day playing with your horse.
